Take Action: Help Commonpoint’s Resettlement Program of Ukrainian Refugees; Attend Climate Forward Event Hosted by The New York Times

Help Commonpoint’s Resettlement Program of Ukrainian Refugees!

Commonpoint is a non-profit organization helping to resettle refugees from Ukraine and other countries. They provide a broad range of services to refugees and other humanitarian migrants.  Commonpoint provides initial resettlement, case management, social adjustment, ESOL classes and tutoring, employment counseling, job placement, career and other vocational training services to refugees, asylees, humanitarian parolees, and Special Immigrant Visa holders (SIVs) in New York City, Westchester County and Long Island.

With all of the funding cuts, they need our help to fill some of the essential items that these families need. If you would like to make a donation of any of the below items, you can drop it off at the Reconstructionist Synogogue of the North Shore at 1001 Plandome Rd in Manhasset, or directly at the Queens Commonplace Office at 58-20 Little Neck Parkway, Little Neck, New York 11362. The New York Times is hosting an all-day live event in NYC on September 24th, 2025 called Climate Forward.

The event will bring together Times journalists, community organizers and activists, government officials and farmers, scientists and restaurateurs with the goal of sharing the latest information regarding the impacts of climate change.

It is basically a day of live journalism with candid conversations with expert speakers, like previous speaker Dr. Jane Goodall. It will be a great day to make connections and find common ground.
