The E.P.A. is Proposing to Eliminate Greenhouse Gas Limits on Power Plants!!
Once again, the current administration is going against the advise of scientists, and stating that coal and gas fired power plants do not significantly add togreenhouse gas emissions, even though, according to the E.P.A. website, (Environmental Protection Agency) it is the second largest source of greenhouse gases in the United States, next to transportation. Globally, power plants are responsible for 30% of the pollution that is driving climate change!
“Fossil fuel power plants are the single largest industrial source of climate destabilizing carbon dioxide in the United States, and emit pollution levels that exceed the vast majority of countries in the world,” said Vickie Patton, general counsel for the Environmental Defense Fund, an environmental group. She called the proposed regulation “an abuse of the E.P.A.’s responsibility under the law” and added, “It flies in the face of common sense and puts millions of people in harms way to say the single largest industrial source of carbon dioxide in the United States is not significant.”
I find this infuriating! Most people understand that climate change is real, including the vast majority of scientist, yet our government agency that is assigned with protecting us and our environment, is doing the opposite!!
