This is Great News!!

Last week, Governor Cuomo executed the Nations Largest Offshore Wind Agreement, which will generate 1,700 megawatts of power, and be able to power over 1 million homes!!  This has the potential to create more than 1,600 jobs and will generate $3.2 billion of economic activity in New York! It sets NY on a path to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 85% by 2050 and a carbon free electricity system by 2040!!

 

And to top it off, Governor Cuomo also signed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, which requires the state to slash its planet-warming pollution by 85% by 2050, and offset the remaining 15 percent, possibly by adopting methods to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

 

Both of these historic acts will help to slow global warming and can be a model for other states to follow.
