In the News: Big Food, Big Pharma, and Big Agribusiness Infiltrate the Organizations Set Up to Protect the Public!

Check out this top story from the NY Times Science Section. It exposes The International Life Sciences Institute, an American nonprofit who’s name sounds like they would do good work, as a covert organization who has been quietly infiltrating government health and nutrition bodies around the world. This organization was set up four decades ago by a top Coca-Cola executive, and it’s membership has grown to 400 corporate members, including DuPont, PepsiCo, General Mills, Nestle and Danonea. They have a budget of $17 million dollars, branches in 17 countries, and they are focusing their efforts in Asia and Latin America, where there is huge potential for profits. Their goal is to shape the narratives and policies around unhealthy products, to weaken the standards for food and water, to promote GMO’s, and to prevent warning labels on unhealthy products.

Why am I not surprised? It’s just so despicable!
