In the News: Bhavani Joins NOFA-NY in Celebrating Our Law Suit Win! The USDA is Ordered to Restore the Climate Focused Webpages to Their Website!! The Center Food Safety Shares New Report on “Microbiomes Matter”

NOFA-NY Wins Lawsuit!!

NOFA-NY, (Northeast Organic Farming Association) along with NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) and EWG (Environmental Working Group) filed a lawsuit with the help of Earthjustice and Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University to get the USDA to reinstate all of their webpages that they removed that had information on the Climate Crisis.  These pages were used by farmers and other conservationists to make critical decisions in the work they do.

The pages that were removed included climate-smart farming, accessing federal loans, forest conservation, and rural clean energy projects. We are thrilled that these pages will be restored to the USDA’s website!

The Center Food Safety Shares New Report on “Microbiomes Matter”

The Center for Food Safety is excited to release their latest report, Microbiomes Matter, which sheds light on the symbiotic relationship that microbiomes have on human health, agriculture, and soil ecosystems.

Microbiomes are a complex community of microbes which are essential for normal immunity, metabolism, and nutrient cycling, yet our industrial farming and modern medicine practices are disrupting this conectionn and making us sick!

Here are some of the key findings from their report:

  • Human and crop microbiomes support health by facilitating nutrient transformation, immunity, and disease suppression.
  • Widespread antibiotic use, pesticides, and ultra-processed foods are degrading gut microbiomes, while industrial agricultural practices are harming soil microbiomes.
  • The breakdown of these microbiomes leads to increased disease, reduced agricultural productivity, and overreliance on medical and chemical interventions.
  • Restoring microbiome health requires systemic changes, from dietary shifts to sustainable farming practices and policy reform.

The future of our health and food systems depends on restoring and maintaining microbiomes. Learn more about the challenges and solutions in their full report.
