iEat Green Shares the Second Interview with Jennifer Gaddis, Author of “The Labor of Lunch!”

Hi Everyone,

This week I had a follow-up interview with Jennifer Gaddis about her book, The Labor of Lunch, and her research on the National School Lunch Program. Did you know that over 39 million kids participate in the program, and for many of them, that is the only meal they can count on? Jennifer’s research focused on the history of the National School Lunch Program, examples of school lunch programs around the world that are successful, and ways to make our National School Lunch Program a part of the curriculum school, where healthy food is served, and where students learn about health, nutrition, exercise, and the environment.

If you want to delve into the topic further, Jennifer developed a community reading guide, along with a classroom curriculum guide. It also includes some short videos and series of video shorts.

Here is another.

Please listen to the below interview, and consider getting involved in your local school lunch program. The more pressure parents put on the schools to improve the food, the quicker we will see improvement.
