iEat Green Shares Interview with Ken Meter, Author of “Building Community Food Webs”

Hi Everyone,

This will be my last newsletter until September, but before I sign off for the summer, I wanted to share with you my interview from Thursday with Ken Meter, and the recipe I shared for my gluten free and vegan Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies.

Ken Meter, is one of the most experienced food system analysts in the U.S., integrating market analysis, business development, systems thinking, and social concerns. His new book, Building Community Food Webs,  shares his experience of working for over fifty years in inner-city and rural communities, building relationships with local residents, farmers, food businesses, medical facilities, housing complexes, and local non-profits to think beyond the short-term monetary gain, and focus more on the positive long term gain of revitalizing a community. In the book, he shares examples of community based food systems that are working together, bringing back traditional methods of agriculture and food culture, to promote sustainability and financial and racial equity. I highly recommend his book to anyone who cares about bringing more equity into our food system.
