iEat Green Shares Interview with Donna Ayer and Missy Cipriano from the Southington Bread for Life Organization!

Hi Everyone,

I just finished a great interview with both Donna Ayer and Missy Cipriano from the non-profit organization, Southington Bread for Life! Bread for Life’s mission is to is to provide food, fellowship and a sense of dignity to those in need. They rely solely on the generosity of their community to help fulfill their mission.

They are a soup kitchen, but have morphed into so much more! They not only serve lunch everyday in their downtown location and deliver meals to their seniors and home-bound citizens, but they get to know each and every one of their clients and assist them in their own personal needs, whether is is signing up for other social services, or housing or clothing, or even a haircut and shave! They also are a voice to educate their community on hunger and poverty, and provide meals for children during the summer months.

Their latest venture is the start of a social enterprise business, Southington Honey Company, which will help support the organization while providing opportunities for their clients for employment. It is a win/win situation!
