iEat Green Shares Interview with Boris Fishman, Author of “Savage Feast”

Hi All,

I just finished a great interview with Boris Fishman, author of a new memoir called Savage Feast; Three Generations, Two Continents, and a Dinner Table. His story of immigrating to America as a young boy, while being very personal, is also a story shared by many immigrants. The struggle of being caught between the world he left behind, and the new world he now calls home. His desire to fit in and achieve success, while trying to please his parents and not go too far from home.

His journey is told over conversations around the dinner table, the food, the company, his grandmother’s cooking, and finally Oksana’s cooking, the caregiver who brought good food back to the family. He shares many of the old world recipes throughout the book, as well as his disappointment in the flavors of our industrialized food, and a new found appreciation for eating local and seasonal, which was the norm back in Belarus.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates the power of food in bringing people together. If you missed our interview, you can listen to it here;
