WEBINAR | Processed Meat: The Health Risks and How School Lunch Can Make a Difference

November 9, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Nearly a quarter of the meat products Americans consume are processed meat.  However, the World Health Organization recently declared processed meats “carcinogenic to humans.”  The organization has classified processed meats in the same category as asbestos, tobacco products, and other carcinogens. The association of processed meat consumption and increased cancer risk is most notable for colorectal cancer. How can schools respond to this new information?

Join us to learn how to:

  • Describe the relationship between processed meat and cancer.
  • Identify three strategies for replacing processed meat in menu planning.
  • Summarize the strategies to market new options on the menu.
