On September 6th, thousands of New Yorkers will Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice, and we invite you to join us. September 6th Mobilization Reports of rising temperatures, devastating forest fires, brewing deadly hurricanes are horrifying enough, and in the context of eroding human rights and Trumpian insanity we must take action. As part of the growing resistance movement, the Peoples Climate Movement-NY is working with partner groups to organize a Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice demonstration on Thursday, September 6th. The national Peoples Climate Movement—the group that organized all the huge climate marches over the last 4 years—is calling for local actions just before the Global Climate Action Summit convening in San Francisco on Sept. 12-14th. Our action in NYC will kick off the wave of national and international protests. The Rise for Climate, Jobs and Justice mobilization in New York City is grounded in three fundamental demands:  Just transition to a 100% renewable energy now Halt all fossil fuel infrastructure projects Make corporate polluters pay Most of the other actions around the country and around the world are being held on September 8th, including what promises to be a major mobilization in San Francisco. Due to local realities, including the annual Labor Day Parade, the New York City action is on Thursday, Sept. 6th, starting at 5:30 pm in lower Manhattan. We will rally in Battery Park and march uptown, passing the Charging Bull, City Hall, and the Federal Building; incorporating corporate, city, state, and federal landmarks along the way. We will challenge our elected leaders to take urgent climate action that includes serious commitments to racial and economic justice.  We invite you to help us plan and spread the word for an inspiring and people powered action on Sept 6th. We  encourage local organizations to support and help build the mobilization.
