Art Auction from the private collections of the artists
ceramic by Susan Rowland
photograph by Henry Chalfant

A private auction of select works from the family collections of major Brooklyn-based artists, Susan Rowland and Henry Chalfant, donated to Theater Three Collaborative in support of “Extreme Whether” at the ArtCop21 in Paris, and the Peoples Climate Movement NY in the streets.

Unique ceramics like the limited edition of four that sold through the Marlboro gallery and several of Rowland’s one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted eco-monoprints, taken from the first flora and fauna to return to the area around the World Trade Center in 2002, will be available. Three personally selected photographs by Henry Chalfant will also be on auction. Henry Chalfant is most known for his work as a photographer and videographer on graffiti, break-dance and hip hop culture. His photographs of New York’s subway paintings record hundreds of ephemeral art works that have long since vanished.

Susan Rowland’s work is in many private collections and the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Santa Fe Roswell Museum and the NY Historical Society. Henry Chalfant’s photos are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Corcoran Gallery and the Carnegie Institute.

Kathleen Chalfant, Tony and Obie-award winning and social justice actor, will be the auctioneer.
