Currently in its sixth year, the Yale Food Systems Symposium is an annual interdisciplinary conference about food systems scholarship and practice. Held at Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies (F&ES), the symposium seeks to challenge traditional understandings of environmental studies to incorporate one of the most fundamental ways humans relate to nature: through food. This year’s conference will focus on community-based approaches to food systems work. Our goal is to break-down barriers across disciplines and expand our definitions of “expertise” — including both lived and learned experience.
