Excess Workshop: Taking a Bite of Urban Food Waste at the 3rd Ward

August 25, 2012 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Reserve a spot at this workshop offered by 3rd Ward.

So much is going on in Brooklyn, in terms of urban agriculture-thinking about compost, growing your own food, living in environmentally conscious ways. The EXCESS project explores what you can do to move our city closer to a future in which edible foods get eaten, organic waste is turned into energy-rich compost, and compost is used to bio-remediate empty lots into food producing gardens.

This community composting workshop focuses first on information sharing and then community action. Along with 3rd Ward fellows, Ricardo and Brooke, participants will use EXCESS as a starting point for discussion and afterwards build a compost station for a Crown Heights garden, and take the EXCESS Bike out for a spin!

Visit the class information page for more information and to reserve a spot in the class.
