Hi All,
For the second year in a row, and I assume I will need to do it every year going forward, I put up a deer fence all around my garden. The deer have discovered our property, and the only way to protect my vegetables is to put up a deer fence. It doesn’t have to be an ugly, heavy duty fence. I made mine with metal stakes, bamboo poles, and thin polyester cord. The thin cord works well because the deer can barely see it, but they can feel it when they come up to it and don’t know how to get around it. We were shown how to use a Constrictor Knot around each pole, so that you can pull it tight and it won’t loosen up on you. The bottom section of my fence is electric to keep the rabbits and squirrels out. For the deer fence, we started in one corner and went around the entire garden, tying the knots as we went. When we got to the end, we used another bamboo pole that we could velcro to the beginning pole, so that we had a way to get into the garden without climbing through. It works like a charm!
Come Join My Seitan Cooking Class on June 21st!
Seitan is one of my favorite plant proteins, but it is impossible to find a good one at the market. Join us on June 21st for a Farm to Table experience, and learn how to make your own Seitan. Once the loaves are made, we will create a few of my favorite dishes, like Seitan Marsala, Seitan Bolognese, and Seitan Stroganoff. The Seitan Cutlets are also ideal for making sandwiches like a Cuban Steak Sandwich or Rueben with Sauerkraut or a Seitan Bánh Mi. To sign up, email me at Bhavani@iEatGreen.com
