Eating Green With Bhavani: It’s Time for Another CSA Fair!! Save the Date! March 15th from 11 AM – 3 PM!

Hi All,

Last year we skipped our annual CSA fair, but we are excited to bring it back!! CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and it is the most supportive and economical way to get organic produce into your kitchen, other than growing it yourself!

CSA’s support our local organic farmers! It is a wonderful way to get your organic vegetables all season long from a local farm. The way it works is you buy a share at the beginning of the growing season, giving the farmer much needed funds to purchase their supplies. Then, every week, you will receive a box full of freshly harvested organic vegetables in season. Every CSA is a little different. Some farms have drop off points and some farms require you to come and pick up your share. Some CSA’s, in addition to vegetable shares, offer options for fruit shares, flower shares, eggs, and local cheese. If a full share is too much for your family, you may have the option of a half share or an every other week share. That is why we organize the CSA Fair, so that you can shop around to find the best CSA that meets your needs.

The CSA fair is returning to the Sisters of St. Joseph’s in Brentwood on March 15th, from 11-3 pm.

Whether you join a CSA or shop at your local farm or farmers market, the experience of knowing where your food comes from, and meeting the community that surrounds that farm, will enrich your life beyond your expectations. Local Harvest is a great resource for finding a farm or farmers market near you. Check them out!!

Thank you to everyone who responded to the Emergency Coat Drive!

It was amazing how much I was able to gather in less than a week! The Community Solidarity Organization is out on the streets, distributing food to our neighbors in need, six days a week. They also collect clothing and items that people need. This week, many people are warmer because of the generosity of our community!
