Hi Everyone,
This past Saturday was the largest mass protest in American history! There were over 2600 “No Kings Protests” all across the country, and many others around the world. I went to the Mineola protest with my husband (seen in the photo to the left) and friends. This was my first time using my megaphone, and it wasn’t quite loud enough for me! I already ordered a new one that I hope will be much louder for the next protest. It is clear that the majority of American people disagree with the current Administration’s agenda, and that the current president is a certified lunatic! The fact that he is in charge of our county and is making decisions that go against the Constitution, and is disregarding financial allocations already approved by Congress, is frightening. I want to thank all of the people that showed up on Saturday to make our voices heard, and to encourage everyone to keep up the momentum of this historical day. The feelings of love, community, people power and hopefulness were juxtaposed with the feelings of anger, despair, and disbelief with what’s going on. I am choosing to hold onto the feelings of love, community, people power and hopefulness, and will continue to show up and do what I can to resist the maniac in the White House!
Speaking of maniacs, who commutes a sentence of an elected official who lied, cheated, stole from donors, and committed fraud? That’s right, Trump granted clemency to George Santos, the former member of Congress from New York who served less than three months of a seven-years sentence for his crimes. I guess those are the prerequisites necessary for being in Trump’s circle! It’s crazy that we have a convicted felon for our president, and he likes to surround himself with other law breaking citizens. It’s so hard to believe!
Celebrate Food Day at the Port Washington Library on Thursday, October 23rd!
October 24th is National Food Day, but we are celebrating one day early! For the past few years, nutritionist, Jill Eisenberg, has put together a great program to celebrate National Food Day. The evening will start with a short film, followed by a discussion led by Patti Wood, co-founder of Grassroots Environmental Education. I will close out the evening with a cooking demo and tasting. Registration is required.
