Eating Green with Bhavani: Climate Week Inspires Action! Day of Rejuvenation Cancelled.

Hi All,

There were so many events going on this week, it was hard to choose which ones to go to. I managed to get to three events and was so happy to see the teachings of Joanna Macy to be a central theme at two events, along with the recognition and wisdom of the indigenous people whose land we live on. For those of you who do not know Joanna Macy, her work focuses on connecting within community and taking action. She passed away in July at the age of 96. The main body of her work, known as The Work That Reconnects, helps groups connect and take action to heal the world. I interviewed Joanna Macy back in November of 2014, and remember my feelings of hope and optimism after our conversation. To have a listen to my interview, please click here.

The event on Wednesday called Currents, was sponsored by Coral Vita, a company helping to rebuild coral reefs around the world. They brought together artists, activists and water lovers to share what they are doing to help repair the oceans, coral reefs and the environment. I was so moved by the artists making huge sculptures to sink into the bottom of the ocean to become habitats for sea life or to prevents large scale fishing operations from being able to scrape the bottom of the ocean with their huge fishing nets! Below are a few photos from the day. As an artist, you want to spark emotion and a reaction from the viewer, and these artists are definitely doing that!!

A Day of Rejuvenation Cancelled.

Unfortunately, we did not get enough sign ups to move forward with our Day of Rejuvenation. I understand there is so much going on, it’s hard to commit. We will revisit this next year.
