Join Consumer Reports for an Online Webinar to Reduce Plastic, Both Personally and In Our Communities!

During the holidays, Consumer Reports members submitted more than 1,700 examples of plastic packaging that arrived at their homes – both good and bad. They are researching why certain companies choose plastic packaging over more environmentally friendly alternatives, and how we can avoid creating an avalanche of plastic waste from our everyday lives.

If you’d like to know more about how you can avoid plastic waste, or how you can get active in your community to reduce plastic waste over the long term, please join their webinar on  Thursday, Feb. 19, at 3pm ET/12noon PT. They’ll have experts in the world of plastics and waste management on hand to explain the steps you can take for a more plastic-free life.

The plastic we all encounter in our everyday lives does have a story behind it. Companies have certain motivations and rationales behind their decision to encase products in plastic. At the webinar, Consumer Reports will analyze the plastic packaging consumers submitted, discuss reasons why a company may have gone in this direction, and what you can do to influence the marketplace for the better.

They’ll also dive into the steps you can take as a consumer to significantly reduce your exposure to plastic. With plastic making its way into every facet of our lives, and emerging risks to our health and the wider environment, we need to know a practical framework we can use to reduce our plastic purchases, protect our health, and engage our community in these important efforts.

Please forward this email along to friends, family, and others in your community who are also frustrated by the amount of plastic in their daily lives.
