Eating Green with Bhavani: A Busy Week at the iEat Green Homestead! Indian Cooking Class has been Postponed to August 21st! My Next Cooking Class is the Mediterranean Cooking Class on July 24th!

Hi Everyone,

This has been a busy week over here at the iEat Green Homestead.

We hosted a pot luck this past Friday for our local Slow Food Chapter, Slow Food North Shore, and it was a big success! We had Monique Fitzgerald from the LI Progressive Coalition talk to us about the work they are doing to make Long Island a more equitable, sustainable and affordable place to live. Her presentation led to a conversation about the ways we can get involved, and how we can influence our local representatives.

Three days later, we hosted a fundraiser for Seth Koslow who is running for Nassau County Executive, against Bruce Blakeman, who has been doing a terrible job. We need to spread the word and help get Seth Koslow elected, as well as our other local democratic candidates. The current government wave we are being forced to ride will come crashing down at some point, but in the meantime, we need to do everything we can to build up a strong democratic foundation from the ground up. Our democracy and freedom are at stake, and we need to come together now. We can’t afford to waste time being depressed, we need to enliven each other to take action!!

I found this photo on the web, and I thought it was a good description of how I feel.

We can’t afford to give up, and the only way I can stay sane is by surrounding myself with sane people, meaning my family, friends and community, and spreading the love!

My Indian Cooking Class has been Postponed to August 21st! The Next Cooking Class is  Mediterranean Cooking on Thursday, July 24th!

Mediterranean Food is one of my favorite cuisines, and reformulating recipes to be vegan is one of my favorite past times! For this class, I will share my Vegan Moussaka recipe, as well as Hummus and Baba Ganoush to start.  Then we will make a Stuffed Zucchini with Tomato Coulis, Israeli Cous Cous Pilaf, and Tabouli Salad. We will finish the evening off with a Coconut Rice Pudding with Rose Water.
