Hi Everyone,

It was such a pleasure to sit down with Kim Coopersmith and talk about the National Child Nutrition Program and the challenges of serving fresh, healthy food to the students while following the stringent guidelines and meal components that have to be met. However, this challenge encouraged Kim to seek out a grant from New York State, called the Farm to School Program, which builds relationships with local farmers and introduces fresh fruits and vegetables to the 3,200 students in the district. Glen Cove School District is the first school in Nassau Country to be awarded this grant, and I am so happy to have the privilege to be the Farm to School Coordinator for the program.
