Protect Snap Program From Budget Cuts
“The Senate is set to vote as early as this week on a budget recommendation that could strip billions in funding from vital safety net programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), to pay for massive tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. The Senate budget cuts could be similar to plans by Trump and the House that would cut SNAP by at least $140 billion over ten years. A budget like this would force millions of hungry low-income children, seniors, military families, and veterans to struggle even harder to put food on the table in order for the richest to get even richer. This is just wrong.
Earlier this month, thousands of dedicated FPA supporters spoke out to demand that the U.S. House protect funding for SNAP, and we need to hear from you once again in full force to help us stop this budget from moving forward in the Senate.” – Food Policy Action Center
