iEat Green Interviews Edie Kantrowitz from United for Action

Hi All,

I just finished my interview with Edie Kantrowitz, and was so impressed with the work and community networking that United for Action has been doing. I had assumed that they were a non-profit organization that had been around for years, but found out that they have only been in existance for 4 years, and that they are a completely volunteer, grassroots organization, run entirely by concerned members who are committed to the environmental issues plaguing our community. United for Action primarily focuses on the concerns and issues around hydraulic fracking, The Port Ambroise LNG proposal, and the dangers with nuclear energy, while promoting energy conservation and the use and development of alternative, renewable energies, like the proposed wind farm off of the coast of Long Island and the expansion of solar energy. She shared with us the dangers of the Algonquin Pipeline, and how the expansion of the pipeline will increase the negative impacts of?climate change, endanger the safety and quality of life for the surrounding communities, contaminate water, air and soil, cause harm to domestic animals and wildlife, and threaten farmland and property values. Not to mention, if there was a pipeline explosion, the pipeline is very close to the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant,?and it could trigger a meltdown that would not only impact the local region, but effect the whole New York Metropolitan area. If you share our concerns about this pipeline, please sign the petition here.?Edie also shared with us the website for The Solutions Project, which is an interactive website that is helping individuals, communities, companies and regions, to make the transition to 100% renewable energy. It is possible, but we need everyone on board. Check them out!
