Voting for a Sustainable Future

If many of you are like me, you have been upset over the last 4 years, at many of the decisions President Obama has made, beginning with his appointment of Tom Vilsack as Secretary of Agriculture. (For those of you that don’t know, Tom Vilsack was was named Governor of the Year by the Biotechnology Industry Organization, an industry lobbying group.)  I know I was finding it hard to get behind him again, because I was still upset about all the unfulfilled promises regarding our environment, sustainable energy and putting the American people before corporate profits.

Then, last week, it dawned on me that if I don’t do everything I can to help him get re-elected, we could end up with Romney and Ryan as our President and VP, and that was really scary!

I listened to Michele Obama’s speech this week, along with Bill Clinton’s, and the President’s, and I have to say with all of my heart, that this is the man we need to stand behind. When it comes down to the things that are really important to me, it is building a community where everyone has equal rights, whether it is in gay marriage, women’s right to choose, access to good food, and equal pay, and of course it is our environment. I believe all of these things are important to our President, and I acknowledge that working in the hostile environment of our government, makes it hard for anyone to get the right things done. I believe his heart is in the right place, and I hope he has a chance to keep our country going in the direction it is. Please join me in supporting Obama for president again!
