Today is International Women’s Day! Join the Movement! The Rise of Earthquakes; De-Stress with Michel Pascal as He Joins Bhavani on the Progressive Radio Network

Hi All,

Today, Wednesday March 8th, is International Women’s Day, and the organizers of the Women’s March have called for a day of action for equity, justice, and the human rights of women—through collective action, economic solidarity, and a one-day strike.

Here’s the call that’s gone out from the Women’s March organizers; “A Day Without a Woman”—with three things women and allies can do:

1- Wear RED.
2- Women are encouraged, if possible, not to engage in paid or unpaid labor.
3- Avoid spending money—with exceptions for small businesses, and businesses owned by women and people of color that support gender, racial, and economic equity.
Please watch and share a short video featuring Women’s March co-chair, Tamika Mallory, discussing the reasons for today’s strike and what we all can do.

Pawnee Nation Sues Oklahoma Oil Companies

I was so glad to read about the law suit that the Pawnee Nation has filed against the oil companies that are fracking near their land. When wastewater is injected into fracking wells, it causes earthquakes, yet oil companies are not willing to accept the responsibility, and they try to put the blame elsewhere. They need to be held accountable. The financial burden of repairing the damage from these quakes is left to the homeowner, business owner, insurance company or the like. We need to make the oil companies pay for the damage! They are making so much money with their fracking, they can certainly afford the clean-up better than anyone else! Prior to fracking in Oklahoma, the average number of earthquakes in Oklahoma was 2 per year. Now it is up to 2,500 per year! How is that even possible? That’s 6-7 earthquakes per day!! Let the lawsuits keep coming, and let’s shut down the fracking industry altogether!

This Thursday, my guest on the Progressive Radio Network is Michel Pascal, a French author, meditation teacher, filmmaker and singer. I thought his latest book, Meditation for Daily Stress; 10 Practices for Immediate Well Being, would come in handy for many of us, as we deal with the daily stress of our new administration. I know you may be wondering what does this have to do with food, but as you have heard me say before, everything can be connected through food. We all need to eat, and our food choices are very important, but our state of mind can effect our ability to enjoy what we are eating, and to digest the food we are putting into our bodies. The mind/body connection is very deep, and so many people I know, myself included, are struggling to keep our equilibrium, and connect with our higher self, as we fend off the constant drama from Washington. Well, Michel and his book, Meditation for Daily Stress, can help! Please join us on Thursday, as we embark on this journey together!
