Tell Your Representative: Syngenta’s Chemicals Poison Farmworkers; Help Keep the Hudson River Clean; Submit Your Comments to Say NO to OFFShore Drilling; Tell Zinke Not to Rollback the EPA

Syngenta Herbicide Major Cause of Poisoning in West Africa and Again in HawaiiImage result for paraquat

The most widely used herbicide, also known as Gramoxone (active substance paraquat), produced by Syngenta, causes more poisonings than any other pesticide. New York Times reported that after the chemical was banned in Britain, the United States has continued to use and export this harmful chemical to agricultural markets around the globe.

“In 2016, 19 workers were sprayed with Dow’s nerve gas pesticide chlorpyrifos — without any protective gear…then Syngenta failed to provide decontamination supplies or emergency medical attention. Although the EPA originally announced a fine of $4.8 million for Syngenta’s actions, they recently stated they would reduce the penalty to just $150,000. It cut the fine by more than 96%.” – Friends of the Earth

Demand that the EPA hold Syngenta accountable for poisoning workers with toxic pesticides. The EPA is responsible for regulating the pesticide industry not letting companies like Syngenta off the hook.

Add Your Name to the Petition for the Dept of Interior: Tell Zinke NOT to Roll Back the BLM Methane and Waste Prevention Rule

The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Methane and Waste Prevention rule was established to limit the waste of publicly-owned natural resources and reduce air pollution; “designed to address the waste of $330 million dollars’ worth of natural gas from oil and gas operations on public lands each year, but now Secretary Zinke is capitulating to the worst companies in the industry and killing these standards.” – Friends of the Earth
