Tell Science Museums to Kick Koch Off the Board

This is scary. Oil mogul David Koch — one of the right-wing extremist Koch Brothers — has bought himself a seat on the boards of our country’s most respected science museums — the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. and the American Museum of Natural History in New York. And there is evidence he?s polluting not just the air we breathe and the water we drink, but the science we teach our children and citizens.

Koch is using his prestigious position as a board member, donor and exhibit sponsor to legitimize his climate denial agenda and benefit his corporate interests in Big Oil. We can’t stand back and allow the Koch brothers to compromise the integrity of our country?s leading science museums.

SIGN THE PETITION,?telling the Smithsonian and the American Museum of Natural History to end this overt conflict of interest, by kicking David Koch off of their boards. We?ll deliver your signature directly to the museums in advance of their upcoming annual board meetings.

Immediately Suspend Monsanto?s Roundup Herbicide

stop-monsanto-roundup-180Invented by Monsanto in 1974, Roundup is the most widely used weed killer in the United States ? nearly 200 million pounds are used on food every year. It?s commonly used on crops like wheat and soy, and residues of it are routinely found in food and water. While Monsanto officials and government regulators have routinely insisted that it does not accumulate in human tissues, independent studies have found significant concentrations of its active ingredient glyphosate in human urine and breast milk.

Until now, the EPA and FDA have resisted classifying Roundup as a carcinogen and banning its use. But after this report, the EPA now states that it will ?consider? these new findings. We need to make sure that this new information actually spurs them to action. Sign the petition now!

Stand Up to Mitch McConnell’s Attacks on the Clean Power Plan?

CPP_benefitsSenate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants your governor to refuse to develop a plan for your state to comply with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan, the first-ever national limits on global warming pollution from power plants under the Clean Air Act.

The climate and health benefits of the Clean Power Plan will far outweigh the costs, according to the EPA, generating billions of dollars in net benefits per year.?In fact, independent analysis by UCS shows states can affordably achieve even greater climate benefits by including strong roles for renewable energy and energy efficiency in their plans to meet these historic new standards.

But in a recent letter to the governors of all 50 states, Senator McConnell ignored the evidence on the benefits of the Clean Power Plan. Instead, he echoed disinformation about the costs from a NERA Economic Consulting report paid for by fossil fuel and utility industry trade groups, representing some of the world’s largest producers of industrial carbon emissions.

Please send a message today and make sure your governor gets the facts needed to stand up to fossil fuel fiction and start planning for your states clean energy future.

If you can help get millions of people to sign this petition, we can create a movement powerful enough to force all G20 governments to take action. Food education will make a difference to the lives of the next generations, so please help.
