Take Action: Tell Burger King to Rid it’s Meals of ‘Botox’; Stop the Confusion and Reduce Food Waste; Just Label It!

Tell Burger King to Rid it’s Meals of ‘Botox’

In March 2015, tBurger King GE apples_depression-952518_960_720he FDA did approve several new types of genetically engineered apples and potatoes as safe for market and public consumption. “Arctic Apples,” which are genetically engineered to resist browning after being cut and bruised (i.e. masking any natural signs of decay or contamination), along with some potato varieties, have thus made their way into food production and onto store shelves. However, we can still tell fast food restaurants to reject these controversial GE products that even apple producers do not want! Sign the petition to keep genetically engineered foods out of Burger King chains and away from our dinner plates.

Stop the Confusion and Reduce Food Waste

In May of this year, Maine representative, Chellie Pingree, led the first-ever Congressional hearing that focused on the problem of food waste in the United States. Though individual households do contribute a surprisingly large portion of food waste in our country, the issue of inconsistent date labeling for foods remains to be a national problem. Without a national standard for date labeling, premature food tossing is proven to happen more frequently and unnecessarily by consumers. Sign the petition to tell the CEOs of the six largest grocers in the U.S. to publicly commit to creating a system of date labels that is clear for both employees and shoppers!food labelsupermarket-shelf-1094824_960_720

Just Label It!

For many food justice activists the passing of the DARK act was a rough hit, but the war against GMO ingredients is still here. It is our right as consumers to ask the FDA for clear labeling and full disclosure on food products sold to us by producers and retailers. Spread the word to friends, family, and everyone in your community to take action and fight for transparency in food labeling. Sign the petition and share it with your circles—strength is in numbers on this important issue!
