Stop the USDA’s Plan for Unsafe Chicken

Factory Farm PoultrySecretary of Agriculture Vilsack has a plan to change the way safety inspections are conducted on poultry, and his plan would make our food less safe and put workers in danger. Vilsack’s plan would turn most poultry inspection over to the very companies that produce our poultry, leaving only one government inspector per plant to inspect over 175 birds per minute ? that’s three birds per second! The USDA is pushing this plan even though a new government report says that the pilot project is putting our food safety in jeopardy. Please send a letter to Secretary Vilsack and President Obama below, telling them not to privatize our food safety.

Act Now for a Healthier Farm Bill

Time is running out! There are only a few days left to win support for healthy food and sustainable agriculture in the Farm Bill, which sets U.S. fix-the-farm-billfood policy for the next five years. Despite the importance of this legislation, Congress is locked in an ideological battle that may prevent the bill from passing before the current law expires at the end of the month. If this happens, programs that support healthy food and sustainable agriculture will suffer the most. If you’ve already contacted your elected officials, now is the time to contact them again. Tell Congress: The time is NOW to pass a Farm Bill that puts healthy food and farms first.?

?End the Corporate Hypocisy on GMOs!

We have a right to know what we’re eating, and what we are feeding our families. Yet major companies are spending millions to fight GMO labeling initiatives that more than 90 percent of Americans support – while liy_gmo_9300x300claiming that they’re telling us everything we need to know about their products. It’s time to call out Monsanto, Pepsi, Kraft, General Mills, Kellogg’s, DuPont and 60 other major companies on their hypocrisy. Last year they spent $46 million to defeat Prop 37, this year, they?re hiding behind the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) to try to do the same in Washington. Tell Monsanto, Kraft, Pepsi, Coke, General Mills, Kellogg’s and DuPont and the members of the Grocery Manufacturers Association that you wont buy their products as long as they donate against GMO labeling!
