Say No to Monsanto’s Dream Bill

WEB_1503_DarkAct-CONVIO_1_Monsanto’s Dream Bill (H.R. 1599) would prohibit any state efforts to require labeling of genetically engineered foods (GMOs). And it could get a hearing soon!

The Grocery Manufacturers Association, an industry group that represents Monsanto, Nestl?, Dow, and Pepsi, is pushing this bill because it would let them continue to keep quiet about their production and use of GMO foods.

We need to make sure Congress hears from their actual constituents, since they’re already hearing from the industry lobbyists. It’s our right to know what is in our food, and corporations should not keep us in the dark. Click here to inform your states Representative that you oppose this bill.

Stop Monsanto From Dodging Taxes

The agribusiness giant Monsanto is considering a plan to buy Syngenta, a Swiss agrochemical company. The buyout would allow it to declare itself logo-group-syngenta-swiss.sia Swiss company for tax purposes.

We cannot allow this to happen. Monsanto wants to avoid the high taxes in the United States, and this is their way of trying to get away with it. Following suit of Burger King, who is now a Canadian based company, Monsanto thinks they can do the same. They don’t even have to move their headquarters or CEO, it just has to be written on a piece of paper.

According to the Center for Effective Government, “Monsanto could owe as much as $1.5 billion in U.S. taxes on these offshore profits, an amount that could be permanently avoided if the new company engages in complex legal and tax transactions following an inversion.” Click here to sign the petition, and don’t let Monsanto get away with yet another injustice.

Oppose Port Ambrose, a Dangerous Offshore Liquefied Natural Gas Facility!

Liberty Natural Gas (Liberty LNG) is proposing to build ?Port Ambrose,? a deepwater port that would bring combustible liquefied natural gas tankers to the NY/NJ region.

Under the Deepwater Port Act, this facility could be used for both the import and export of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

LNG is a disaster for our climate: methane has an effect on climate 85 times more potent than carbon dioxide over a twenty-year period.

Don’t let this happen, click here to sign the petition.
