Take Action: Get The Food Network to Add a Vegan Show; Tell Aldi to Stop Wrapping Produce in Plastic; Stop the Bayer-Monsanto Merger

Get The Food Network to Add a Vegan Show

119px-Food_Network.svgMore and more people are aware of the shortcomings of the conventional food industry, and are turning to veganism. Eating vegan saves people money, does good for the environment, helps heal and nourish the body, and treats animals fairly. The Food Network doesn’t broadcast any shows to represent the vegan community, or people who are considering the switch. Many people don’t identify themselves as vegan, but like to cut down on their meat consumption, so adding a vegan show to the line up would be beneficial to everyone. Sign and share this petition to ask The Food Network for a vegan show!

Tell Aldi to Stop Wrapping Produce in Plastic     (And Trader Joe’s Too!)

AldiAldi is a nationwide grocery store chain that attracts clients with low prices. They have recently added more organic produce to their shelves, but most of their produce comes in plastic or Styrofoam packaging, and then wrapped again with plastic wrap. We’re happy that nationwide chains are adding organic options, but so much packaging is wasteful and damaging to the environment. Sign and share the petition to tell Aldi to stop using so much packaging on its produce! I feel this way about Trader Joe’s too. I love Trader Joe’s, and their prices seem fair, but I wish they didn’t wrap all of their produce in plastic. Who wants to start a petition for them?

Stop the Bayer-Monsanto Merger

German company Bayer has announced its bid to take over American company Schwendermarkt_graffiti_MonsantoMonsanto, and we need to do everything in our power to stop it. Bayer’s initial bid of $60 million was rejected by Monsanto, but the company is open to negotiations. If this merger goes through, it would create the world’s largest agricultural seed company, and control 30% of the world’s seed supply.  Recently, Dupont and Dow merged, and ChemChina is trying to takeover Syngenta; if these mergers keep going through, the world’s food supply will be solely in the hands of huge conglomerate seed and chemical companies. These companies have shown they will do anything to make money, including bankrupt family farms, and poison our environment and our bodies. Please sign and share this petition, and be on the lookout for more information on these mergers. The more these companies merge and consolidate, the less control we have over our food supply.
