Save Modern Medicine; Petition to Next President for Good Clean Food;

Save Modern Medicine and Stop the Use of Antibiotics in Factory Farms

Although I do heavily promote the eating of fresh, organic food and vegetarian cuisine, as well as cooking at home to fully enjoy sharing meals with loved ones, I will also acknowledge the strides some food industry leaders and local hotspots have made with regards to serving antibiotic-free meat. In previous newsletters, I have aimed to spread awareness regarding the severity of issues surrounding the use of antibiotics in farm-raised animals. The threat of antimicrobial resistance bacteria (AMR) is very real and very serious according to many public health experts, and most importantly, shown in a recent report by the World Health Organization. When our farm animals are consistently dosed with antibiotics and then consumed, it causes the antibiotics prescribed to us by doctors to fight off minor infections, to become compromised and less likely to work. This is a huge threat to our global health and safety, as declared by the UN last week! Yet companies like McDonalds, who may have pledged to improve their antibiotic policies, and big poultry producers like Perdue, who plan to curb antibiotic use, still serve meat that is pumped full of them and contributing to the leading cause for AMR. Please sign the petition to put a stop to these incredibly risky practices and advocate among your circles to reduce our consumption of these unhealthy foods!

Plate of the Union

We need everyone’s help in making Food issue’s a main agenda item for the next president! With the majority of diseases being food related and preventable, and with 1 out of 4 households being food insecure, and with our nation wasting 40% of all food produced, it is time that FOOD is a plate-of-uniontopic for discussion. It is clear to those of us who are paying attention, that our food system is broken, and we need some leadership from the top, to help fix it! Please sign onto this petition, to make food a topic at the next presidential debate!
