Help Safegaurd Drinking Water by Standing Strong Against Pollutants and Fracking

Those of us from New York already know that we have “the finest tap water in the world” due to three upstate reservoir systems which provide most of our drinking water. According to Riverkeeper, these watersheds provide up to 1.5 billion gallons of unfiltered drinking water to over nine million New Yorkers daily. A remarkable engineering achievement, the NYC water delivery system is a 6,000-mile network of pipes, shafts and subterranean aqueducts, operating for the most part on gravity alone, making it the single largest man-made financial asset in New York State.

“Riverkeeper played a critical role in the first broad-based watershed legislation in 1997, and continues to be one of the primary watchdogs enforcing compliance in the city’s three major watershed regions. Our watershed work encompasses the enforcement of environmental laws; monitoring sprawl development in the watershed; working with communities and government on proactive programs to achieve long-term protection of the NYC Watershed; advocating for stronger watershed protection policies on a local, state and federal level; and encouraging New Yorkers to choose tap water over bottled water.”  Learn more info here!

Letter to Congress: Demand Transparency in Review of the Affordable Care Act

“Repeal of the Affordable Care Act affects millions of Americans. We all deserve a thorough, fully transparent review of any replacement plan, not a rushed or secretive process without all the information in hand. That’s why we must demand our members of Congress to strongly oppose rushing this bill through in secret.” – Consumers Union

Say NO to the Bayer-Monsanto Merger and Resist Giant Agrochemical Power

“President Trump recently signaled a thumbs up for the proposed mergers of two of the largest (and worst) agrochemical companies in the world—Monsanto and Bayer. This merger does nothing to protect U.S. farmers and rural communities—nor the majority of consumers who are skeptical of GMO foods, and who overwhelmingly disapprove of the use of chemicals like glyphosate and 2,4-D on food crops.” – Organic Consumers Association
