Take Action: Our “Right to Know” is defeated!

I am so disappointed! After months of networking, and pushing for the Califonia’s Proposition 37 to become a law, it went down in a close vote.

Although 90%of all Americans would like to see labeling of  GMO’s on their food products and doctors now recommend parents reduce their child’s exposure to pesticides by choosing organic, Proposition 37 did not pass. Monsanto and the huge food conglomerates poured on the pressure, spending over 40 million dollars to scare Californians where they would feel it most, in their pockets. With scare tactics of how much money it would cost each family if the law was passed, Proposition 37 lost by 47% to 53%.

However, all the work to educate the public was not in vain, and we will prevail the next time! The documentary film, Genetic Roulette, is still available to watch online, and many people have taken advantage of the free viewing. If you have not yet, take a moment to do so now, then sign the petition telling the FDA that we have a right to know what’s in our food.

And for those of you feeling up for a little civil disobedience, you can “Label it Yourself”. Download a label template, and take it to the grocers with you. Check out the list of common genetically modified ingredients and get labeling.
