Jump on the Bus to the Rodale Institute! Join iEat Green’s Summer Cooking Series; The Earth Rangers Visit iEat Green! Amanda Oborne From EcoTrust Joins Bhavani on the Progressive Radio Network

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a nice holiday weekend, and got to enjoy the beautiful weather! The date for the LI Food Coalition‘s July 18th trip to the Rodale Institute is quickly approaching, so if you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, please reserve your spot! There is still space on the bus!

Many of you have been asking for cooking classes, and I finally set the dates! I am starting with a series of three, Vegan and Gluten Free Classes. The first one, scheduled for July 26th, will be a Japanese inspired menu. The next one is a GardenMediterranean Menu on August 2nd, and the last one is a Thai Menu on August 16th. Come for one or all three!

Last week, on another beautiful day, The Earth Rangers, a group of children between the ages of 9-16, who participate in IMG_6621an environmental after school program in Wyandanch, came to the iEat Green Homestead, and enjoyed working in the IMG_6616IMG_6656gardens, harvesting vegetables, making Whole Wheat Vegetable Pizzas, and swimming in the pool. The wonderful group of interns I have this summer, enjoyed working with the children, breaking out into groups to plant, shovel compost, weed, harvest and then cook! All the while, swimming in the pool and sharing a homemade meal together. A full day of wonderfulness!

This week, my guest on the iEat Green with Bhavani show, will be Amanda Oborne, V/P of Food and Farms at EcoTrust. Tune in to hear how EcoTrust is changing the local regional food economy in the Portland, OR. region, by building Amanda Obornestrong relationships between producer and buyer. They are harnessing the purchasing power of schools and institutions, and connecting them to the local, mid size farmer or rancher. They are developing an infrastructure on which to build a resilient food hub, that is good for the people and the community.

Remember, my show is recorded live, every Thursday, from 10-11 am, EST.  To tune in, navigate to PRN.fm and click the “Listen Live” button on the left. Also try downloading the PRN mobile app, and take the station with you wherever you go! If you want to call in during the show with any questions for me or my guest, the call in number is 888-874-4888.

If you can’t tune in at that time, you can listen to the show in the PRN archives, or on my website, or through iTunes. Please “like” iEat Green’s Facebook page and feel free to rate the show and leave comments on iTunes and on my website. Thank you all for your support.

With love and gratitude,

Bhavani
