In the News: The Cornucopia Institute Comes Out with a Score Card for Organic Certifiers! Food and Water Watch Has a Plan! The Insanity in Our Food Trade!

All USDA Organic Certifiers are not created equal! As consumers, we expect the USDA Organic label to uphold the strict organic standards that organic farmers set up back in the 1980′s, but over the years, the pressure from corporate interests has weakened those standards. The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) was set up to protect the organic label, and to oversee independent certifiers as their legal agents, however, money got in the way! The powerful industry lobby group, the Organic Trade Association, along with our legislators that take money from agribusiness and food producers, have allowed the certification to get watered down. Take a look at which organic certifiers are doing their job. The Cornucopia Institute came out with a complete report and I am happy to say that the NOFA-NY label is one you can trust!
