There are many reasons not to eat farmed fish in general, but Tilapia has to be one of the worst to eat from a farm. Just like factory farmed chickens and pigs, Tilapia is kept in cages under water and fed GMO corn and soy pellets. Corn and soy are not found wild in the ocean, and are not part of a fish’s diet. This diet effects the nutritional value of eating Tilapia. The omega-3-acids that are found in farm-raised fish are less usable to our bodies compared to wild bred fish. They also have a lower protein content than wild fish.
