Yesterday I had a wonderful interview with Adam Weissman from Global Justice for Animals and the Environment. I had invited him on because of his deep understanding and knowledge of how trade deals impact our country and the other countries involved. This latest trade deal that President Obama has been working on, called the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), is the scariest one yet. In this trade deal, it would prevent countries from upholding their food safety regulations, their pharmaceutical safety regulations, and their environmental regulations, or be subject to lawsuits from corporations for loss of potential revenue. It sounds unbelievable that a corporation can sue a country, but it is even happening now with some of the ramifications of the NAFTA trade deal. It’s really important that we all become familiar with the dangers of this trade deal and work together to prevent President Obama from signing it into law. To here the interview please click below.
