iEat Green Wishes You All a Happy Earth Week! Dr. Peter Carter, Founder of the Climate Emergency Institute Joins Bhavani on PRN

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all finding time to bask in the beginnings of Spring and Earth Day Week! The weather is beautiful, and I am enjoying being outdoors and getting into my garden again!

My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network is Dr. Peter Carter. Peter is a retired family physician who practiced medicine for almost 40 years. He was the founding director of CAPE (Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment) in 1993, and more recently, is the founder of the Climate Emergency Institute in Canada. Peter is a sought after speaker on sustainable development, environmental health policy, biodiversity, climate change, and ocean issues at international conferences around the world. His new book, Unprecedented Crime: Climate Science Denial and Game Changers for Survival, documents the culpability of governments and big corporations in ignoring the science and marching ahead with new pipelines, fracking, fossil fuel extractions, and industrial agriculture.

Peter has been following the global warming and climate change research since 1988. His approach to assessing climate change is based on environmental health and human rights protection. Peter has documented the science that shows we are already far beyond “dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system” (as defined by the 1992 UN Framework Convention on Climate Change).

Peter covers environmental protection policy for the Climate Emergency Institute, and has submitted to the United Nations and FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) consultations on this topic. He was an expert reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) in 2014, as well as the 2018 IPCC Special Report on 1.5ºC.

His mission now is to spread the full truth about the extreme risks and magnitude of the global climate and ocean disruption emergency and its impacts on our food security, our health — and our survival. Please join me on Thursday to learn more about the risks of Climate Change and what we should all be doing about it.
