iEat Green Welcomes Karen Washington and Celebrates Two Blows to GMO’s

Hi All,

I know we were all so disappointed when Proposition 37 didn’t pass, so I wanted to share some exciting news with you. I just heard that Kaiser Permanente, the largest managed healthcare organization in the United States, has advised its members to avoid GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in food. Obviously, they made this recommendation, because they realize that their clients are getting sicker by eating GMO’s, and that is not good for business. It is hurting their bottom line. To read the full article, click here; http://www.willamettelive.com/2012/news/corporate-giant-comes-out-against-gmos/  The second blow to the GMO industry came from Peru. Peru has made it illegal for Genetically Modified Ingredients to be anywhere in their country, for the next 10 years! That’s amazing! Read about it here! http://www.whitewolfpack.com/2012/11/peru-passes-monumental-ten-year-ban-on.html

This week, the guest on my radio show is Karen Washington, a community activist who has helped to change the landscape in the Bronx. She has worked to transform empty lots into community gardens, and to bring fresh, local produce to her neighborhoods. She is also a board member of Just Food and the NYC Community Garden Coalition. I am thrilled to have her on my show, and I hope you can join us and share in her inspiring stories.

My show is every Thursday at 10am, ET, on the Progressive Radio Network. To tune in, navigate to PRN.fm and click the “Listen Live” button on the left. Also try downloading the PRN mobile app, and take the station with you wherever you go!  You can download all shows on iTunes, or listen by phone 24/7 by calling (832) 280-0066.
