iEat Green Shares Interview with Timothy Wise, Author of “Eating Tomorrow: Agribusiness, Family Farmers, and the Battle for the Future of Food”

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I had a wonderful discussion with Tim Wise about the realities of our current food system, and what needs to change, in order to make it more affordable to be a farmer, and more just for the majority of people. Tim is a senior researcher at the Small Planet Institute, where he directs the Land and Food Rights Program. He is also a senior research fellow at Tufts University’s Global Development and Environment Institute, where he founded and directed its Globalization and Sustainable Development Program. Tim’s new book, Eating Tomorrow: Agribusiness, Family Farmers, and the Battle for the Future of Food, discusses how the effects of climate change are already impacting farmers, and how employing more sustainable practices can offer resilience to small family farmers. We discussed why there is so much hunger amidst the over production of food, and how our food policies feed corporate interests over hungry people. It is a great book, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in how our food system works and why the green revolution has failed us.

If you are interested in the book or would like to catch one of Tim’s upcoming talks, check out the Small Planet website at https://www.smallplanet.org/eating-tomorrow .
If you want to hear a very short video segment (30 seconds) in which Tim discusses why he wrote the book, here is the link to it!
