iEat Green Shares Interview with Jessie Breslau from Foodshed.io

Hi All,

When it comes to moving our local food system forward, it is usually the folks on the ground, doing the work, who come up with the best innovative ideas. Yesterday I had a conversation with one of those people! Jessie Breslau, along with her partner Tom Hallaran, are the co-founders of Foodshed.io, a start up that is connecting small, local, sustainable growers, with restaurants in NYC, who want to serve locally grown, organic food to their customers. Having developed their own software, they use block chain technology to provide transparency and traceability of the farms and products they represent, while managing all of the ordering and distribution challenges associated with doing business. It is a win/win situation for both the farmers and the restaurants. And the exciting thing is that this technology can be replicated and used in other cities across the country.
