iEat Green, Live from the Food Tank Summit in DC

Hi Everybody,

food-tank-summit-01This is an exciting week, as I travel down to Washington DC, for the first annual Food Tank Summit at George Washington University, all day Wednesday and Thursday, January 21st and 22nd. The lineup of speakers and presenters is impressive, and I will be interviewing many of them for this weeks radio show. Many of the presenters have been on my show in the past, such as Jonathan Bloom, author of American Wasteland and Wasted Food, and Sara Jayaraman, from the Restaurant Opportunities Centers United. Other past guests and also presenting will be, Richard McCarthy, the Executive Director of Slow Food USA, Shen Tong from Food-X, and Danielle Nierenberg, the Founder of Food Tank. If you are interested in taking part, the entire event will be broadcast live, through the Food Tank Website.?You can follow the discussion across all social media via #FoodTank and you can also ask questions live to panelists via the email?questions@foodtank.com. If you would like to see the full lineup of speakers, you can find them here.

I know President Obama will be making his decision about the Keystone XL Pipeline, and I urge all of you to keep up the pressure to prevent the pipeline from being built. I was awoken this morning to the news that 50,000 gallons of oil leaked into the Yellowstone River in Montana, from a pipeline leak this past Saturday. The fact is, that 1/3 of all pipelines will leak in their lifetime. To see a list of the most recent pipeline spills, click here. It is not a rare occurrence, and our planet can not absorb the continued contamination and abuse to our environment. Please read about the most recent leak here, and keep up the pressure to ban the Keystone XL Pipeline.
