iEat Green Joins Grassroots International Salon & Interviews Elena Mihaly from the Conservation Law Foundation

agricultura campesina ya 20141
Hi Everybody,

Last night I had the privilege of meeting and listening to?Esperansa Cardona speak. She is one of the most prominent leaders of the women’s movement and peasant movement in Honduras and an international peasant leader as well. She is part of a grassroots movement called Via Campesina, which unites small-scale farmers and food producers from 79 countries around the world. They work to save seeds and land from corporate takeovers by educating the peasants to challenge the laws that strip them of their rights, and by supporting the rights of women and speaking out against violence against women. The issue of corporations controlling our food and energy supply, for the benefit of profits over people, is something we are very familiar with, even in this country, but the lack of basic human resources and the fear for your life, makes the situation in these developing countries unimaginable. Grassroots International partners with organizations like Via Campesina, and makes it possible for us to join them in solidarity, and offer some financial support to fight these injustices. Please consider donating to this important organization!

I am busy working on the final details of the Long Island Food and Film Feast, scheduled for March 29th at 6:30 pm, which is going to be such a great event!
