iEat Green Interviews Chanel Porchia-Albert, Founder of Ancient Song Doula Services

Hi Everybody,

I’m just returning from the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, where Slow Food North Shore celebrated “Mother Earth” in their annual Terra Madre Day event. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to share the story of Slow Food and the international community it has created of people who care about how their food is grown, sourced and eaten. We started the evening off with small plates of hors d’oeuvres to accompany the short film about Terra Madre and Salone Del Gusto,?????terra-madre?? Slow Food’s biennial event! The film gave the audience a taste of the magic that is created when thousands of food lovers and environmental stewards come together for 5 days of sharing in the heart of Italy! We followed that up with a talk and slide show of Beth’s favorite photos from our trip this past October. It was an unbelievable experience and one that I suggest everyone try to go to! One of the many things we discussed was Slow Food’s “Arc of Taste”, a campaign to preserve foods that are in danger of disappearing, and to celebrate the diversity in seeds, plants, people and traditions. For tonight’s reception, we sourced kale and cabbage from Fox Hollow Farm, potatoes and pumpkin from iEat Green’s garden, watermelon radishes from Golden Earthworm, wine from Shinn Estate Vineyards and beer from Greenport Brewery and Great South Bay Brewery.??It was a great night!

Tomorrow, I am very excited to welcome onto my show, Chanel Porchia-Albert,??every-mother-counts_chanel-qa? a fellow activist, mother, and founder of Ancient Song Doula Services and the Pregnancy Kitchen.
