This morning I had a wonderful discussion with Kenny Friedman, about Nourishing LI Food Buyers Club. His organization is different than a CSA or Food Coop, because everyone joins with a nominal membership fee and then purchases the food they want directly through the club to the farmer,?without a?minimum or upfront cost. They don’t deliver produce,?so they mainly focus on dairy, eggs,

poultry and meats that are raised organically on pasture, and leave the produce to our wonderful, local, organic farms. After talking with Kenny, I got the feeling that one of the greatest benefits that he has gotten out of the club, is the feeling of being a part of a community of like minded people. Each member has access to their private, online Facebook page, where they can ask questions, share recipes, and share referrals of health practitioners. I know first hand, how important it is to be a part of a group like that. I think we all can use more opportunities to work together to create communities that enrich our lives.
