iEat Green: An Interview with Dr. Richard Oppenlander

Hi All,
I had a great interview this morning with Dr. Richard Oppenlander, the author of the new book, Food Choice and Sustainability. In this book, Dr. Oppenlander does a great job in explaining how our eating habits are contributing to climate change, and what we can do to help reverse that. He helps us connect the dots, between the raising of livestock, and its contribution to the depletion of our fresh water, the polluting of our oceans, the clearing of our rain forests, and the extinction and threat of some fish species. The statistics that he shared were mind boggling! I had no idea that 45% of our land mass is used for animal agriculture, or that 29% of our fresh water is used for livestock. Those are huge numbers! And while all of this information can be depressing, he explains how we can collectively turn it around if we all were to adopt a plant based diet. His arguments are very convincing and it just might be what you need to hear to make your own personal transition. If you missed the show, you can have a listen here!
