Holly Hughes, Food Editor of the Best Food Writing 2016, joined Bhavani on PRN

Hi Everyone,

I just finished my interview with Holly Hughes, discussing her anthology of the Best Food Writing 2016, and I am psyched! Not only did we have a great discussion, but we talked a bit about some of her favorite pieces and what she looks for in a good food writer. Basically, first she wants the writing to be good storytelling, and then she wants it to either make her laugh, cry or get hungry before the end of the first page. I can imagine that to be a challenge! In order to compile her book, she reads over 1000 essays and picks only 47 to be in the book. She describes it as the “dream job”!
