Help Protect Food Safety; Limit Trump’s Power to Start Nuclear War; Organize a March Against Monsanto; Take Bee-killing Pesticides Off the Shelves

Stop Cutbacks to USDA and Help Protect Food Safety

“President Trump’s most recent budget proposal contained significant cuts to the USDA budget – $4.7 billion. That’s a 21% cut to the agency already struggling to protect our food supply and ensure corporations are in compliance with the law. The EPA? A 31% cut there too.

These cuts will completely hobble the USDA and EPA. With no one left to report and track potential violations, big corporations will act with impunity. We’re going to be in the courtroom day in and day out to make sure that doesn’t happen. If corporations flaunt consumer protection regulations, we’ll sue to put a stop to it. And if the Trump Administration takes aim at hard-fought regulations that protect our food, farms, and environment, we’ll sue to make sure these crucial protections remain in place.”

We can’t let Trump hamstring our regulatory agencies. Will you chip in right now to make sure we’ve got the legal resources we need to fight back? Donate here to the Center for Food Safety to help make a difference.

Limit Trump’s Power to Start Nuclear War

President Donald Trump—like every president for decades—has sole authority to launch a US nuclear attack (Learn why this is such a bad idea here). “The saber rattling between the United States and North Korea is a stark reminder of why this is so outrageous and unacceptable.” – Union of Concerned Scientists

Here’s a simple yet important step you can take: Write to your members of Congress and urge them to co-sponsor the “Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons Act,” which would prohibit the president—any US president—from launching a nuclear first strike without a declaration of war from Congress.

“Since last year’s march, there’s been no shortage of reports implicating Monsanto in everything from colluding with EPA officials to bury the truth about Roundup’s health risks, to influencing university scientists to write favorable reports about Roundup and glyphosate.

In the past year, Monsanto has been hit with multiple lawsuits, including those filed on behalf of more than 800 people who have been diagnosed (or whose family members have been diagnosed) with non-Hodgkin lymphoma after being exposed to Monsanto’s Roundup.

In April, a panel of five International Monsanto Tribunal judges slammed Monsanto over violations of international human rights. As citizens and consumers, we must continue to stand up to Monsanto and other corporate criminals, especially now, when the U.S. EPA is being taken over by corporations.

But even as we resist the corporate takeover of our government and regulatory agencies, we must also talk about solutions—including how we can regenerate everything from our health to our economies and communities, by building a new Regeneration Movement.

That message—Resist and Regenerate—is the message we hope you’ll bring to your local March Against Monsanto this year.” – Organic Consumers Association

Friends of the Earth Ask For Your Contribution to Stop Selling Bee-Killing Pesticides

“Ace Hardware is the last major garden retailer with no plans to stop selling bee-killing pesticides. Last week, two of Ace’s biggest competitors — Walmart and True Value — stated that they’re eliminating neonicotinoids. These toxic pesticides are one of the leading drivers of bee declines.”

Thanks to continued support from consumers who care, organizations like Friends of the Earth have “shifted more than three-quarters of the garden industry away from neonics.” Let’s get Ace Hardware to join Walmart, True Value, Costco, Home Depot and Lowe’s in committing to stop selling them!!
