GMO Animals Should Be Regulated; Food Policy Action is Needed; Raise Your Voice to Say NO to Mega-Merger; Let’s Resist the Change and Boot Pruitt from the EPA

Image result for genetically modified food salmonSince genetically modified salmon, biotech companies have been grotesquely working to create GMO animals. That is, bioengineering animals by way of making a change to their DNA such that they are created to do something specific or, in the following case, not do something. According to the National Resource Defense Council, Recombinetics, Inc., the “Monsanto of the genetically modified animal industry” wants to genetically engineer pigs to “withstand a miserable life in factory farms.” The NRDC is (as am I!) concerned with how such questionable growth and development might impact regulations by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Specifically, the NRDC suggests that some biotech companies want the FDA to keep the from having anything to do with regulating GMO animals, or in this case, pigs which could end up in the U.S. food supply.”

TAKE ACTION: Tell the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA): Genetically modified animals need to be thoroughly safety tested by the FDA!

Help Protect Farmers and Stand Up for the Environment: NO to Mega-Merger

Last week, the EU approved the merger for Bayer and Monsanto, but it still has to be approved in the U.S. -we have a window to keep this conglomerate from forming which would ultimately threaten our democracy and diversity in society and economy!

Friends of the Earth reported that the Department of Justice is still reviewing the merger AND that the U.S. is very different than the EU (the EU passed the mega-merger). This signal tells us that we can still stop the mega-merger from happening here.  Our Congress could help push our Department of Justice to reject the merger — but we need to let our representatives know where we stand and help to convince them that immediate action is needed!

“If this merger goes through, the new mega-corporation would have unprecedented power to control our food system, contaminate our environment, raise prices for farmers and all of us, and limit our options.” – Friends of the Earth

Scott Pruitt is Making Waves Changing Regulations in the EPA which serve Fossil Fuel Industry Companies

“EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s corrupt and possibly illegal actions have been all over the news — the transgressions exposed in the past week alone are enough to make my head spin. There’s the reported sweetheart deal with the wife of a fossil fuel lobbyist which saved him thousands of dollars on luxury housing in D.C. … then there’s the recently leaked memo revealing that the EPA sent its employees a list of brand new talking points on climate — statements that downplay the links between human activity and climate changeThat part is no surprise, given Pruitt’s well-earned reputation as a staunch climate denier.” – Rhea Suh, President, NRDC
